A Charitable Remainder Trust in Jim Pyle's Memory

A Charitable Remainder Trust in Jim Pyle's Memory

Jim Pyle served with distinction as a partner in the Newark, Ohio based law firm of Reese, Pyle, Drake & Meyer until Alzheimer's disease forced him to retire in 2000. After his death last year, his wife, Jeanetta, decided to create a $250,000 charitable remainder trust to Nationwide Children's Hospital in his memory.

"Jim was a good friend and an excellent attorney," said his law partner, Russ Suskind. "He would have been thrilled that Jeanetta made this gift to Children's."

After being married in 1985, the Pyles lived in Granville. Jim practiced law while Jeanetta taught school. Jim grew up in the Newark area, where he was an outstanding high school athlete. He was inducted into the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He received his bachelor's degree at Cornell and his law degree at the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the Law Review. He was active in numerous Newark and Granville civic associations, including the Licking County Law Library, the Newark Public Library Board, the Newark Lions Club and the Newark Area Chamber of Commerce.

Jeanetta and Jim were always grateful that Nationwide Children's was available for families. Fifteen years ago, the daughter of a lifelong friend of Jim's was successfully treated for childhood cancer at Children's, and the family received excellent care.

"When my niece's baby was born two months premature, he spent more than a month in the neonatal intensive care unit in a hospital in Alaska," said Jeanetta. "I was determined that if I could help make a difference someday, I would do t. I discovered that the charitable remainder trust is an excellent tool that helps me provide much-needed funds to the hospital while at the same time offering me a financial benefit. I can make more of a financial commitment this way, so the children are the winners."

Thanks to Jeanetta's generosity, the legacy of her late husband, Jim, will live on for future generations. For more information on how you can leave a legacy, please contact:
